NJHS ceremony

Today at CJHS they had the NJHS induction ceremonies for the seventh graders.  The eighth graders helped with the ceremonies and of course Scout had a part.  First let me say that Scout loves to dress up.  He loves to because he knows that he looks good and so consequently he feels good.  I just love that he takes so much pride in this ceremony and chose to dress accordingly.  So many of the kids didn't even wear collared shirts.  This ceremony is a big deal.  The eighth graders last year that helped induct Scout dressed up and looked good.   So it really was a surprised to me that more didn't chose to dress up.  This didn't have anything to do with money because I got all of Scout's and mine clothes at Wal-mart.

God in your pocket.

Sager found a cross necklace of mine, a crucifix.  He tells me that he is  going to keep it in his pocket.

 I asked him why?

 He says,"well isn't this guy God?" and I said,"yes."

He says,"well, I probably need to keep God around me so I'll just put him in my pocket.  It's good to have God in your pocket."

Well there's no arguing with that.  Thanks Sager,  for pointing that out to me!!!

Here's a few more pictures from the Sale!

Here are a few more pictures from the Livestock Show Sale.  If Shaw isn't the cutest thing you've ever seen, you're crazy!!!  Shaw I am sooooo proud of how good you did, how well you acted and how big you're getting!!!   I can't wait till we get that spot pig for the Tri-State Fair!! Now Scout's totally jealous! I bet I can talk him into some sheep next year!!!  What do ya think?  Even Sager's going to be showing next year!!!

Minnie Update...

We received the sweetest letter in the mail from Sager's favorite lady, Minnie Lee King.  She says that she's doing good and that she enjoyed our letters, we've sent several and are making another one to send today (Sager made a cardinal bird with red and black glitter and we're going to adorn Minnie's card with Sager's creation).  Sager just cried and cried when he realized the letter was from Minnie.  He just misses her so.  Hopefully I will fulfill my promise to Sager that we can go to Lubbock next weekend to visit.

More pics!!!

More pictures from the livestock show...

Show pictures...

My friend Lisa C. took these pictures for us on Thursday, at the Livestock show (thanks Lisa!!) (she is totally the BEST livestock show mom, she feeds, takes pictures, moves pigs, you name she can do it!).  The picture where I am holding Sager, is when he totally freaked out and thought Yolanda was going to get him again!  Once he thought it would be funny to play matador with the pig and the pig thought it would be fun to do, so she jerked the jacket away and when she did, she pulled Sager down to and proceeded to "play" bull with him! By the time it was over, Sager had dirt in his teeth and a new phobia!  Look at that picture of Brandon and the boys - what a good Dad!

Childress Co. Livestock Show

This weekend was the Childress Co. Livestock show.  We had the absolute best time.  It brought back so many memories.  I showed in Potter Co a long, long, long time ago and so I was so excited when I finally talked one of my city kids into showing a pig!  I'll post some pictures later but our show stuff started Thursday with a wash and a clip.  I thought I did pretty good for never clipping a pig before.  The show was this morning at 8:00 a.m.  Shaw showed in the 6th class of hamps and I'm sorry to say that the poor child got 5th place (out of 5).  But what was totally the best part, he was totally cool with it!  He said that it was o.k. that he had a good time and he was already talking about what he was going to show next time! Good job Shaw! You're first place with us!!

How low can you go?

Today at school, we had the Honor Roll Celebration, this time it was LIMBO!! How fun is that? Of course Scout made it pretty far but he's mad at me because I totally wouldn't let him show off in front of the whole school and jump Ninja style OVER the limbo stick (I really thought he had better limbo skills, sorry Scout!) then Mrs. Meacham had some of the teachers limbo with the students and yours truly was picked, I'm not going to say I'm good but I thought I did pretty well until I saw the pictures and I totally looked  like Napoleon Dynamite in my boots! GOSH! note to self: don't wear those boots while limbo-ing!

The Ritz...

Scout, Shaw, Suzanne and I went to Wellington, Texas to the Ritz Theater to hear the Amarillo Virtuosi orchestra.  It was so fun, we absolutely loved it.  We sat in the balcony and could hear and see everything while  eating  M&M's and drinking Dr. Pepper.  Shaw was sitting there so quietly and he leans over and I asked if everything was alright, he says I only have one question, the man playing the red instument (the bassoon) is that a boy or a girl?  It was hysterical! (only because I was wondering the same thing myself!)  here are some pictures from our jaunt!

OK - I told Sager!

Well, I told Sager about Minnie.  He talked with her on the phone.  She sounds really good.  She is going to a place (I hate to call it a nursing home but that's pretty much what it is.) near Lubbock.  Sager asked her if they were taking good care of her and told her how worried he was about her.  It was soooo sweet.  This is a memory that I will try to remember when he really makes me mad, I'll remember how sweet his little voice was as he talked with the little lady he so truly loves!

Shhhhh! Don't tell Sager!

We found out today that Sager's little old lady who used to babysit him had two strokes over the weekend.  Her name is Minnie and you can not even measure how much Sager loves her.  When Sager was four he would go to her house in the morning if I had to sub up at the elementary school.  The bus would pick him up a little before 11:00 a.m. (his school started at 11:00).  They would drink juice, eat cookies and watch Bob Barker  (not the Price is Right, Bob Barker).  That was three years ago and even after he started school, we would have to go "check" on her.  His "checking" on her  is going to her house for a Dr. Pepper and a cookie while I visited with her and he played with her toys.  Minnie is so special to Sager, I hope she gets to feeling better (although we are very worried, after all she's 86!)   I haven't told Sager because he'll want to skip school and drive to Lubbock to check on her.

Monday, Monday....

Today was the first day back after Christmas vacation.  Let's just say there was only one person who was so excited to get up and go to school.  Let's just say it wasn't me, it wasn't Scout, and it wasn't Shaw.  Yep, you guessed it! Sager.  He was up by 5:15 or 5:30 a.m. and was dressed by 6:00 a.m.  He's really tired by now though.  (ha-ha that's what he gets!!!!)  The kids in my classes seemed all right with being back.  Only one said she got in trouble with the law over the break!  (really she said that!)  any hoo!  I was excited to see all the kids and to get back in the routine of things.  I hope everyone had a good Christmas break, now, how long is it to spring break? ha-ha (no, really, how long????)
